In the Hamerkwartier, Midvast is redeveloping the site of the 'Tabaksfabriek' into a trendy live-work building. This plan is one of the first developments in the transformation of the Hamerkwartier, turning the industrial area into a sustainable neighborhood with modern homes, cozy hospitality venues, and creative workspaces.
The Hamerkwartier is located on the eastern side of the Northern IJ banks and covers an area of approximately 40 hectares, which will be transformed over the coming decades. Midvast owns several commercial properties in the Hamerkwartier and plans to redevelop these in the coming years as well.
The Tabaksfabriek is currently used as a multi-tenant commercial building. The plan, designed by Arons & Gelauff Architects, includes a residential tower with about 90 medium-priced apartments. There will also be space for commercial use on the ground floor, alongside the existing commercial building that will be maintained. The development has a total area of approximately 8,300 m² gross floor area.
